The Impact of Post-Manufacture Treatments on the Surface Characteristics Important for Finishing of OSB and Particleboard

Oriented strand board (OSB) is a commonly used structural wood-based panel for walls and roof siding, but recently the industry has become interested in OSB as substrate indoor outdoor furniture. Particleboard mainly furniture productions popular construction material due to its numerous usage possibilities inexpensive cost. Moisture one of most important factors affecting performance post-treatment conditions affected their affinity water. When particleboard are substrates coatings, surface characteristics play an role determining quality final product. Furthermore, roughness can significantly affect interfacial phenomena such adsorption, wetting, adhesion which may have impact on coating performance. In this research panels were sanded, re-pressed IR heated influence treatments hardness, roughness, water, water vapour absorption was studied. Results showed that sanding improved wetting with Moreover, studied increased penetration depth panels, re-pressing had positive effect reducing panels.
